10 tips to restore your digestive health

Do you ever experience
Problems with your digestion?

  • Bloating
  • Indigestion
  • Pain and discomfort
  • gas or wind

1. Find out what foods your body and stomach are reacting to.

Kinesiology and muscle testing is a quick and simple way to test this. Continual eating of foods that are irritating the stomach will increase symptoms and weaken the immune system. Over 70% of your immune cells are in the gut. Improve this and it will positively affect your immune system.

2. Avoid the foods that are affecting your digestion or get treatment to help the body desensitise to the foods

You may even be reacting to healthy foods or their vitamins and minerals.

3. Reduce refined complex carbohydrates in your diet

Eg: sugar, white flour products, caffeine and alcohol. These foods can negatively affect your digestive health.

4. Increase raw vegetables and plant fibres

These foods are fantastic for eliminating oxidation in the body caused by poor diet, low in nutrients.

5. Always take time to sit down and relax when you eat

Your stomach needs time to be able to rest and digest. When you eat on the run or while you do other things, your stomach has to fight for energy to work optimally.

6. Avoid worry and stress

Excessive worry and over thinking will directly affect your stomach and switch off your digestion. Focus on feeling relaxed and happy while you eat and enjoy your meal slowly.

7. Do not drink while you eat

Water and other liquids will wash away and neutralise important digestive enzymes that are necessary to break down and digest food.

8. Restoring Hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes is essential. The best way to do this is:

a) by drinking a glass of fresh celery juice every morning on an empty stomach. Celery juice is made up of very important salts that will help heal and restore digestion.

b) 10 min before each meal drink a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of water to help stimulate stomach acids.

c)Taking Digestive Enzymes before each meal will also help break down your food.
d) Start each meal with a fresh green salad (bitter leaves are best eg: rocket) and tomatoes or fresh fruit slices such as papaya or pineapple. They contain natural digestive enzymes to boost your digestive cycle.

9. Always chew your food VERY well

Digestion starts with saliva. The better you chew your foods, the easier it is for your stomach to break it down and digest.

10. Start your day with a large glass of fresh water and a squeeze of lemon.

This helps kick start the liver to detoxify. Follow this with a glass of fresh vegetable juice, eg: carrot, celery, spinach, ginger, parsley and one apple for sweetness.
